Certified Foodies.

As you can tell by the title, this blog involves a lot of food! It sums up a lot of the trip (food-wise) in my Ireland experience since I have just ended Ireland and have started my Italian adventure in Rome (blog update soon)! Dad-- this blog post (since it involves food, a bit of sports (futbol), and Irish music that you pretend to know about) is dedicated to you! ( Mom.. don't feel left out, you'll get a blog dedicated to you, but it needs to be a bit more fancy and sassy in order to relate it to you ;) )

So we begin....

On our way to Kensale. It is a lovely little Irish town with a seaside setting, but of course we chose to go on the day that involved Hurricane weather. Most of our time was spent eating and running from coffee shop to pub to avoid the wet rainy and windy weather.

Fishy Fishy Cafe' in Kensale... hands down, best seafood ever!
Hayley's 140283 cup of coffee (but it's ok.. because it's Europe and it's a rule to have coffee at least once a day)
Bread every meal. It is a wonderful thing

Seafood chowder... it was as good as it looks

I basically fainted when they brought this out. It looks like a dream, and tasted even better! I ate every bite.
Hayley's Salmon dish!
Seafood Salad with Chile sauce
So seaside of them

We then enjoyed a little wine tour in one of the Kensale castles.
And according to this myth...I know the family MUST have some Irish in them..especially Logan a.k.a. garbage disposal of the family. He is a strong believer in making a happy plate (no food left behind).

Pastry place with delicious goodies

For the 30 seconds it wasn't raining we got some snapshots of Kensale.

Cold and  rainy.. finding our way around
More treats!

The pub we were so happy to find while waiting on our bus
Of course, we couldn't finish our day without dessert. This is a sticky toffee pudding brownie!

Getting ready for the Irish vs. Spain game
Very excited Irish with high hopes for Euro 2012

Back in Cork for the game

Keepin it in the fam.

Hayley is so good at this appetizer thing
Can't wait to live with her for good. She makes things look delicious! Must get these cooking abilities  from Dad ;)
Just cooking away.. I know Dad misses having her in the kitchen.

One of our many delicious meals from English Market goods, made by Hayley... I helped a bit (by pouring glasses of wine...)

Two famous beers of Cork: Beamish and Murphy's
Fun streets.

Lovely little cafe!
As you can tell by now.. we did not skimp on food. It was our main and frequently visited attraction

More seafood chowder with LOTS of seafood, and a little bit of chowder
Just singing opera in the streets of Cork. Lovely

"Trad" night (Traditional Irish music)
prepping for our trad night
Hayley found a new lad

Dad... you would have loved the Traditional Irish music. I pictured you playing the electrical bagpipes by the end of the night and being best friends with the whole band. You know it would have happened.
Enjoying the trad
Getting some sista time!

Not only does she cook like a champ, she researches like one, too. Cool EEG machine from the 19somethings..

We like to end our day with stupid little biscuits and a nice little cup of tea here in Ireland!

Hope y'all enjoyed! I'll be updating on Rome very very soon! Love y'all and thanks for the comments!!!

  1. W.O.W !! You were right! What a YUMMY food blog. I know that Logan is particularly jealous right now because he is missing out on all the new food adventures....I mean, sister time.
Can't wait to see pictures from your Italian trip. It should be a packed but fun-filled week. Thanks for sharing the pictures and blog. We look forward to each new post. Love, Mom

  2. Ok Girls, I am gaining weight just looking at your foodie pictures! I want to taste everything you are having so badly. (I would start with the sticky toffee brownie thing - was it as good as it looked?) And the seafood - looks amazing. Hayley when you get back we will enroll you in a 12 step program for coffee - a-holics. Keep the foodie news coming! Sha

  3. haha Aunt Sha I will definitely need that program after all this...it's just amazing how many scones and desserts taste even better with a good cup of coffee : ) Not to mention the rain here always calls for a hot drink. But YES the food has been splendid, everything you've talked about Europe and the fresh food is completely true! I'm loving it and have been inspired to cook from all these delicious cafes and restaurants!
