One thing I've discovered this week is I'm definitely not an Electrical Engineer! My desk is located in the Electrical Engineer student workroom where there are boards of complex diagrams and power supplies and computer chip constructions everywhere. This place is a completely different world, but thankfully I don't really need to understand any of it. I just began the researching in an attempt to gather background information on the seizure prediction project. The Electrical Engineer side is the actual brains and building of the machine. I'm only focusing on data collection and patterns within that data to identify the best settings to detect the seizures. Since it's a lot of desk work right now I hope to get more involved in the hospital where the data collection takes place. There are 70 neonates in the study so it would be wonderful to see a few of them! In fact, I go for a meeting next Friday morning so maybe I will get a tour and more information about the hospital then. My faculty mentor has been wonderful and helped me with the background of the project and adjusting it to more of a Pre-Med understanding. He's very relaxed and flexible so that makes the internship even better!
The students are finishing with exams here so I'm just glad not to be one of the several still sitting in the library and making frequent trips to the coffee shop....okay, I do make frequent coffee trips, but not due to sleep deprivation so that's nice.
Marissa, the other Notre Dame student, arrived here a few days ago and it has been really nice to have another girl to explore the city, go to work, make dinner, and exercise with. We're frequents at the English Market (even though its been a grand total of 6 days here) and usually get fresh food for all of our meals there. It's still as exciting as the first day. We are also planning a trip to Galway in 2 weeks to see Mumford and Sons and explore the city there!! I'm really excited about that...I've wanted to see Mumford and Sons play for a while now.
In closing, today is Mom's birthday!!! So, breithlá sona duit do mo mhathair!!

Hey Aunt Sally! Thanks for all of your comments. It's definitely been neat to see the other side of healthcare these days...the technology and engineering aspect of all the machines I never really thought about before. haha nope I actually just found that online but it is a pretty cake, maybe one day! Well I'll make sure to post a video of them after the concert so you can see, I've heard they are great live. My address is 7 North Mall, Cork, Ireland...no zip code I don't believe. Thanks for the well wishes, I hope all is well at home!! LOVE YOU!
